I discovered traditional leatherwork 4 years ago after completing a workshop with a master leatherworker.
I learned the basic principles of traditional leatherwork including, how to saddle-stitch, what traditional tools and materials are needed, edge finishing and so much more.
Since completing that workshop, i've continued to learn and hone my skills from watching videos, reading countless articles and flipping through countless really cool, but lets face it, semi-outdated books.
This course is a direct result of that workshop and 4 years of continued research.
I've designed this course to be efficient and delivered in the most straightforward way as possible. It will give you the essential information, laying a solid foundation of traditional techniques and principles.
I've watch enough videos to know, that it can be frustrating to spend countless hours scouring Youtube looking for a video only to sit through someone who talks too much, has poor video quality or maybe isn't quite doing what they say they're going to do in the title.
This course is jam packed!
In this course you will learn practical things like which tools and materials are essential before beginning, some of which, you might already have at home.
I'll teach you and demonstrate the saddle stitching technique how I learned it from my French teacher.
I'll share with you my tips on where to find scrap and starter pieces of leather to practice on for very little $$.
I'll cover all of the steps from cutting the leather to finishing the edges so you know the exact process to repeat over and over again.
And I’ll also teach you how to achieve a professional finish to your edges.
If only I knew then what I know now. Luckily, you have that opportunity now!
At the end of this course, you’ll know exactly HOW to start, exactly WHAT YOU NEED to get started, the basics of traditional leatherworking and will be able to get started on your own projects.
